NEW YORK, November 18. / TASS /. Democrat Joseph Biden, who, according to the forecasts of the leading American media, won the US presidential elections, on Tuesday received congratulations from the leaders of four states – Israel, India, Chile and South Africa. This is stated in a statement published by the politician's assistants.

The democrat held telephone conversations with Chilean President Sebastian Piñera, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South African President Cyril Ramaposa, as well as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and this country's President Reuven Rivlin. Biden expressed his gratitude to them for the congratulations on their victory in the elections.

In a conversation with Piñera, the democrat noted the desire to "strengthen ties between the United States and Chile." In conversations with Modi and Ramaposa, Biden announced his intention to develop "relations of strategic partnership" between the countries. Biden assured Netanyahu and Rivlin of his commitment to "ensuring the security of Israel."

Biden also told Piñera, Modi and Ramapos about their readiness to engage in dealing with the novel coronavirus pandemic, the statement said.

The US general election was held on November 3. According to leading American media estimates, Biden has secured the support of more than 270 electors, whose votes he needs to defeat the current US President Donald Trump in the fight for the presidency. Biden announced his election victory. Trump, who is running for a second term, did not admit defeat and announced the decision to go to the courts regarding the counting of votes, since, in his opinion, there were numerous violations by the Democrats in the elections.
