MINSK, November 13. / TASS /. The law enforcement bodies of Belarus have detained a member of the Coordination Council of the opposition Alana Gebremariam and placed her in the detention center of the State Security Committee. This was reported on Friday by the press service of the opposition council.

"A member of the main composition of the Constitutional Court Alana Gebremariam is a suspect under Article 342, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (" Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them ") and is currently in the KGB pre-trial detention center," press service.

They clarified that the measure of restraint in relation to the detainee should be chosen by November 15.

On November 12, law enforcement agencies conducted searches at Gebremariam, who is also the representative of the ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya on youth and student affairs. After that, communication with Gebremariam disappeared.

Mass protests have been taking place in Belarus since the August 9 election, which, according to the CEC, was won by the current president of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, with 80.1% of the vote. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya took the second place with 10.12%, she did not recognize the results of the vote and took part in the creation of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian opposition for the transfer of power.

Many opposition leaders have already fled abroad for fear of persecution in the country.
