Donald Trump declared himself the winner of the US presidential elections, although there are still millions of votes to be counted and projections have not yielded a winner in the tight race.
“We won this election,” the president said in an early morning message from the White House. He added that “ this is a fraud for the American public . This is a shame for our country. We were preparing to win these elections ”.
The president, who is seeking a second term, said he will go to the Supreme Court of Justice to stop the vote count. “All voting has to end,” he said, referring to early voting, which has delayed results in some states.
“It is a very sad moment. For me, this is a very sad moment and we are going to win this. As for me, we have already won, ”said the president in his message with Vice President Mike Pence and First Lady Melania Trump.
Although the voting centers closed Tuesday night, the votes that were sent by mail in various states continue to be counted, in accordance with the law and as has happened in past elections. However, unlike in other years, this time early voting had a record turnout, with more than 100 million ballots.
Biden’s campaign rejected Trump’s remarks as “outrageous” and “unprecedented,” and the Democrat’s legal team said it was “ready to act” if the president tries to stop the recount.
Hours earlier, Trump also accused Biden of trying to “steal” the vote, in a tweet that was immediately labeled “misleading” by Twitter.
Still no clear results
According to projections of the main media in the United States, so far, Biden has accumulated 238 electoral votes with Arizona, compared to 213 for Trump.
With a record of more than 100 million Americans voting early, the final final results could take many hours or even days.
