WASHINGTON, October 30. / TASS /. The United States Postal Service processed and delivered a record 122 million blank and completed American ballots. This is stated in a statement released on Thursday by the service.
"US Postal Service Continues To Deliver Record Bulletins <...> Since September 4, the postal service has processed and delivered over 122 million ballots. These include both empty ballots sent to voters by employees of election commissions, and filled ballots from voters – to employees of election commissions, "the statement says.
According to the service, from October 1, first class mailings, including bulletins, are delivered in an average of 2.5 days, but no longer than five days. The postal service stressed that they are "taking emergency measures" to expedite the delivery of the ballots.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the mail-order voting method in recent months. This method, in his opinion, does not allow for accurate and prompt summing up of the voting results. The Republican explained that he means, first of all, the threat of large-scale fraud and falsification of ballots, voting of "dead souls", as well as persons who do not have the right to participate in elections. Trump also said that mail-order voting makes the upcoming elections vulnerable to foreign interference.
In the United States, the Postal Service is effectively a separate agency within the federal government. For 13 years in a row, its budget has been implemented with a deficit of about $ 80 billion to date. The possibility of privatizing the service has been repeatedly discussed.
The next general election in the United States will be held on November 3.
