Egyptian Foreign Minister arrives in Moscow to meet with Russian leadership

CAIRO, October 27. / TASS /. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to meet with the Russian leadership. This was announced by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

According to the foreign ministry, the Russian Federation will discuss "bilateral relations, as well as coordination between countries on the most important regional issues that cause the greatest concern, in particular the peace efforts in the Middle East, the situation in Libya, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon."

“In light of the fact,” the Foreign Ministry noted, “that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov went into self-isolation after contact with the infected coronavirus, Samekh Shukri will meet in Moscow with the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

Already in Moscow, the head of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry took part in an online meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs, as well as of water resources and irrigation of the three countries – Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia – on the issue of restarting the negotiation process on the Renaissance dam.

On Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Lavrov, due to contact with the infected coronavirus, would be on self-isolation and all previously scheduled visits and meetings were postponed to a later date.
