BAKU, October 26. / TASS /. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan announced on Monday about the artillery shelling from the Armenian side of the units of the armed forces of the republic five minutes after the entry into force of the new ceasefire.
"On October 26 at 08:05 (local time, 07:05 Moscow time – TASS note), the Armenian armed forces, violating the new humanitarian ceasefire, fired on Azerbaijani army units from the city of Lachin in the village of Safiyan, Lachin region," in a message published on the agency's website.
The Ministry of Defense also reported about artillery shelling of the city of Terter and villages in the Terter region around Nagorno-Karabakh.
In addition, the department reported on the shelling from the Armenian side of settlements and units of the country's armed forces along the entire line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh and on the border of the two countries.
"Despite the announcement of a new humanitarian ceasefire, the Armenian armed forces are firing small arms, mortars and cannons at settlements and positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces along the entire front, as well as on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border," the defense ministry said in a statement.
In particular, according to him, starting from Monday morning, the neighboring Tovuz, Gadabay and Dashkesan regions have been fired from the territory of the Berd, Chambarak and Vardenis regions of Armenia.
"In addition, the enemy fires at the positions of the Azerbaijani army units in the Terter, Agdam, Fizuli, Lachin and Gubadli directions," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry claims.
Earlier, the military department announced the full compliance of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces with the new humanitarian ceasefire regime in Karabakh.
On Sunday evening, Azerbaijan and Armenia, mediated by the United States, agreed on a new ceasefire for humanitarian purposes in Nagorno-Karabakh, which entered into force on October 26 at 07:00 Moscow time.
