Numerous police forces were deployed near the Spanish embassy in the Venezuelan capital after opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez left the territory of the diplomatic mission. Ana Vanessa Herrero, a journalist for The Washington Post, in her Twitter wrote that Lopez is already in Colombia.
Earlier, the newspaper El Pais reported that Lopez had left the territory of the Spanish embassy in Caracas, where he had been since the end of April last year.
In 2015, the oppositionist was sentenced to 13 years and nine months in prison for organizing anti-government demonstrations that ended in clashes and deaths. In 2017, Lopez was placed under house arrest, from where he then fled. Then the oppositionist assured that he did not intend to apply for political asylum or leave the Bolivarian Republic.
