Ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya announced a “nationwide strike” in Belarus on Monday.
“Tomorrow, October 26, a nationwide strike will begin. The Belarusians will take this step because their word is the law,” Tikhanovskaya said in her telegram channel on Sunday.
According to the ex-candidate, “the main peaceful weapon – solidarity” will help “return the law” in the country.
Tikhanovskaya on October 13 announced an ultimatum to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, under which he had to announce his resignation by October 25. Otherwise, the opposition planned to start a strike, blocking roads and “a collapse in sales in state stores.”
