One plane and one drone of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were shot down in the northeastern direction in the zone of the Karabakh conflict, the press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan reported on Friday morning.
“At 07:55 in the northeastern direction, the Armenian air defense forces shot down one enemy aircraft and one drone,” she wrote on Facebook.
The type of downed vehicles was not named.
Stepanyan added that hostilities continue along the entire line of contact in the conflict zone.
“The enemy’s attempts to break through the defenses of our troops in some sectors have failed,” she said.
The day before, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that seven drones were destroyed in the country’s airspace over the past 24 hours, one of the 16 km from Yerevan.
The hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh began on September 27. Azerbaijan then announced the start of a “counter-offensive operation” on the line of contact in the Karabakh conflict zone in response to provocations from the Armenian side. Armenia blamed Azerbaijan for the attack on the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).
The presidents of the Russian Federation, the United States, and France on the eve called on the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to immediately, without preconditions, resume negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Emmanuel Macron issued a statement as heads of state – co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
