The Air Defense Forces of Armenia have destroyed a drone of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces 16 km from Yerevan, reported the press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan.

“Within the air borders of the Kotayk region of Armenia, the Armenian air defense forces destroyed an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle,” Stepanyan wrote on Facebook.

Later, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that a total of four drones were seen in the airspace of Armenia, three of which were shot down. In addition to the Kotayk region, drones have appeared in the Gegharkunik region.

According to him, the search for a fourth drone is underway.

Earlier, the representative of the Armenian Ministry of Defense Artsrun Hovhannisyan said that the air defense forces of the Armenian Armed Forces had begun work. The sounds of explosions were heard in Yerevan.

On September 27, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced in the morning the start of a “counter-offensive operation” along the entire line of contact in the Karabakh conflict zone in response to provocations from the Armenian side. Armenia announced an attack on the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) by Azerbaijan.

Martial law has been declared in Armenia and NKR, and mobilization is underway. Azerbaijan also made a decision to impose martial law in a number of regions of the country and partial mobilization.
