The World Health Organization (WHO) intends to send a team to China to investigate the causes of the origin of COVID-19, head of the organization Tedros Adhan Ghebraysus said at a briefing on Monday.
According to Hebraicus, the WHO team that will take up the matter will leave for China next week.
Earlier Monday, he announced that the world’s coronavirus pandemic has been going on for half a year, but the situation is not even nearing a favorable conclusion and is only gaining momentum globally.
He noted that “despite the fact that many countries around the world have made some progress, the pandemic is actually gaining momentum at the global level.”
More than 10 million people have been infected with coronavirus worldwide, the number of victims has exceeded 500 thousand. At the same time, 500 306 people have already died from COVID-19.
The United States leads in the number of infections – 2,542,675 confirmed cases of the disease are here, 125,763 people died. Brazil came in second with 1,331,667 cases of COVID-19 and 57,070 deaths.
